How a Decade of Trust Builds Better Productions
After more than 10 years with TPH Global, Laurence Jamie-Samson has developed something rare in the world of production payroll: deep-rooted relationships with clients that span years—and sometimes even productions. “Having great rapport and history will always start off the project positively,” she says, and that foundation often sets the tone for a smooth experience from day one.
As an Assistant Accountant, Laurence handles payroll across multiple productions, processing contracts and timesheets, running reports, and ensuring everything is on time and accurate—two qualities she says are essential in this role. “Inaccuracy would cause delays,” she notes, “so it’s vital to get to know each client’s habits and build a workflow around their needs.” That mix of consistency and variety is what keeps the job interesting.
Whether she’s jumping from a large-scale project to a short one or seeing the final production appear on screen, it never gets old. And sometimes, the perks are unexpected—like the time she worked on Aladdin the Musical and got to see it live. “I was in awe and truly appreciative of somewhat being involved in its production.”
